Soviet Ukraine in 1930 (According to the Publications in the Newspaper "Dilo")

In this article, the author systematizes publications about soviet Ukraine in the Lviv newspaper “Dilo” in 1930. He distinguishes and generalizes such important issues of political, national, and cultural life, economic and social situation, religious and historical problems as Bolshevism, collectivization in soviet Ukraine, Union for the Liberation of Ukraine, education reform, etc. The painful issues of Ukrainian national life under the conditions of soviet enslavement in the interwar period are comprehended, based on newspaper publications. During the ’30s of the twentieth-century thousands of materials that require careful up-to-date reading, comprehension, and study had been published. Thus, in 1930 in the newspaper “Dilo” were published more than two hundred publications about the life in soviet Ukraine, in particular, 120 – description, appreciation of events and situations in the soviet Union written by journalists and contributors of “Dilo”, mainly representatives of Eastern Galicia, 5 – articles of foreign authors, the rest – a response-protest in Western Ukraine and the world to the tragedy of Ukrainians. The purpose of the article is to focus on key national issues under the conditions of soviet Ukraine during 1930. The task of the publication is to comprehend the discovered texts in the context of the planned destruction of the national essence of Ukrainians, as well as to supplement the history of Ukrainian journalism with a new source base (new publications) and bibliographic data. The methodological basis of the study. The author uses the method of the scientific study of primary sources found in the special funds of the Scientific Library of LNU after I. Franko, in particular, the files of the newspaper “Dilo” in 1930. 252 publications were processed, some of which – in several submissions. Based on scientific abstracts, 6 publications with the keywords “SVU”, “collectivization”, “Bolshevik terror”, “soviet Ukraine” (method of scientific research) were distinguished, that is, the problem and thematic analysis are applied to understand the raised issues (conceptual analysis) and to prepare certain conclusions and generalizations (methods of synthesis, induction, and deduction). The article is illustrated with two tables prepared by quantitative analysis and content analysis. With the help of new texts in “Dilo”, some issues of the history of Ukrainian journalism were supplemented, revealed, clarified, the standing of representation of Bolshevik policy of Ukraine’s destruction, about the life in soviet Ukraine were ordered
